Cooking Time Conversion for Slow Cookers
Many conventional oven or stove top recipes can be made in a Slow Cooker. Use the chart below as an aid in converting cooking times. Remember that many factors affect cooking times in a Slow Cooker (model, elevation, room temperature), so temperature is the best (and safest) test for doneness.
Start with the times below when converting a conventional recipe to a Slow Cooker, and see our Cooking Chart for target temperatures for many foods.
|Original Time||Slow Cooker|
|15 - 30 minutes||1 1/2 - 2 1/2 hours||4 - 6 hours|
|35 - 45 minutes||2 - 3 1/2 hours||6 - 8 hours|
|50 minutes - 3 hours||4 - 6 hours||8 - 12 hours (or more)|
