This warm cocktail recipe is great at holiday parties
Spiked Cranberry Cider
   1 quart (32 ounces) cranberry juice
   2 quarts (64 ounces) apple cider
   1/4 cup light brown sugar, packed
   3 cinnamon sticks
   12 whole cloves or 6 star anise
   1 whole orange, sliced
   2 1/4 cup rum

Stir together cranberry juice, cider and sugar in the crock or inner bowl of your slow cooker until sugar has mostly dissolved. Add spices and orange slices. Cover and cook on High for one hour, or Low for 3 hours, stirring occasionally.

Reduce slow cooker to Keep Warm. Using a slotted spoon or spider, remove orange slices and spices and discard. To serve, measure 1 jigger (1 1/2 ounces or 3 tablespoons) rum into a small coffee cup or Irish coffee cocktail mug and top with about 8 ounces (1 cup) of the hot cider mix.
