Appliance: Slow Cooker - 4 quarts and larger.

This gluten free recipe is great for Pot Lucks and the holidays
Harvest Spiced Applesauce
   1/2 cup water
   1 tablespoon lemon juice
   8 apples, peeled, cored and finely chopped
   3/4 cup packed brown sugar
   1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
   1/4 teaspoon ground ginger
   1/8 teaspoon cloves
   1/4 teaspoon salt

In the crock or inner bowl of your slow cooker, mix together the water and lemon juice. Stir in the apples. Cover and cook until apples are very tender, 2 to 3 hours on High, or 4 to 5 hours on Low.

Add the brown sugar, spices and salt, stirring until sugar is dissolved and sauce has the desired consistency. Cook an additional 20 minutes on High or 30 minutes on Low. If doubling recipe, cooking time may need to increase by an hour on High or 2 hours on Low.
