Indoor Barbecue Burgers
   1/2 cup onion, minced
   2 cloves garlic, minced
   1/2 teaspoons salt
   1/4 teaspoon pepper
   1/4 cup breadcrumbs
   1 egg, lightly beaten
   1/4 cup barbecue sauce
   1 pound ground beef

In a large bowl, mix together all ingredients except beef until well blended. Add meat and mix by hand only until evenly combined. Do not overwork. Overworked meat will be mealy.

Shape into four patties, about 1/2 inch thick. Place on a plate and cover. Allow patties to rest, refrigerated, at least 30 minutes and up to several hours.

Preheat contact grill according to manufacturer's directions for hamburgers or medium high to high, depending on your model. Use grill plates, if applicable.

Grill burgers according to the following:
For medium-rare (warm red center), grill burgers to 130-135 degrees(F), 5-6 minutes
For medium (light pink center), grill burgers to 135-145 degrees(F), 6-7 minutes
For well-done (little or no pink remaining), grill burgers to 145 degrees(F), 7-8 minutes
For USDA recommended doneness, grill burgers to 165 degrees(F), 8-9 minutes

For juiciest burgers, allow them to rest 5 minutes before serving.
