Braising is a cooking method that typically begins by browning or searing meat, followed by long, slow cooking with a small amount of liquid. Although the browning step can be skipped, the dish will not have the same depth of flavor if it is.
Meat can be browned on the stove or on your contact grill. Some newer slow cookers even have a browning setting (follow the manufacturer's directions).
Traditionally, braising required both stove-top and oven, but Push Button Braising can be done with your contact grill and slow cooker, giving you great results with much less fuss.Contact Grill + Slow Cooker Recipe: Braised Lamb Shanks with Potatoes and Olives
